Get to Know Me

I began my career as a music educator and coach-accompanist, specializing in voice and piano instruction, lyric diction, accompanying, and chamber music coaching. I have held teaching and coach-accompanist positions at several Malaysian institutions: UCSI University, Bentley Music Academy, Nexus International School, and the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre.

My teaching experience has been diverse and includes working with young children, university students, and adults of all ages. Out of all these teaching experiences, witnessing music bring excitement and newfound hope to underprivileged youth and individuals with special needs holds a special place in my heart. It is through teaching music among the disadvantaged and refugee communities in Malaysia that I developed an interest in music and wellness.

I have since pursued and completed post-graduate training in music psychotherapy and am a registered member of both the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and the Canadian Association of Music Therapists (CAMT). I have also completed advanced training in the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music and am a Fellow of the Association for Music and Imagery (AMI).

My clinical experience includes supporting individuals in their mental health journey, redefining life after trauma and loss, living with disabilities, and coping with illness. As part of my clinical training, I have practised as a music psychotherapist in cancer care, palliative care, and inpatient mental health care at Homewood Health Centre (Guelph) and Grand River Hospital (Kitchener). I currently provide therapy services at Grand River Hospital's Mental Health and Addictions Program, and maintain a therapy and teaching space at the Laurier Academy of Music and Arts (formerly the Beckett School).
